Here is what is happening at your schools: We would like to remind parents there is no school on Monday, January 16th in honor of Martin Luther King Day. IDAHO HILL ELEMENTARY On January 17, 2012 there will be a well child developmental checkup from noon – 2:00 p.m. at Idaho Hill Elementary. This screening is free and checks children birth through 4 years for vision, hearing, speech, language, gross motor, fine motor, readiness, and other developmental areas of children. Appointments are necessary and parents need to bring in their child’s baby book or any other information that may be helpful about their child’s development. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Sue Cotter 208-448-2473. The screening is sponsored by West Bonner County School District #83 and the Idaho Infant Toddler Program. PRIEST LAKE ELEMENTARY Priest Lake Elementary is very proud to offer free pre-school to our community on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 – 11:00. Our pre-school teacher is Ms. Jessica Loncosty. If you have a child under kindergarten age and potty trained they are welcome to come. For more information contact PLE at 443-2555. This pre-school is funded by The Priest Lake Community Education Fund, and the Priest Lake Yacht Club. If you would like to donate to this fund contact Allison Hagman or PLE. Ready For Kindergarten Class met on January 10th. If you missed this class there is one more class for this school year on May 8th at 5:30. Priest Lake 5th/6th grade students enjoyed cross-country skiing led by Don Anderson and many volunteers. Thank you for all our volunteers. PRIEST RIVER ELEMENTARY Welcome back to school and to 2012! Fourth through sixth grade classes are holding their annual spelling bees. All grade level winners will be invited to attend the WBCSD Spelling Bee on January 23rd at PRE (in our gym at 6:00). “Reading is the Ticket” information will be coming home this week so be sure to ask your student for their packet. All information about when reading forms are due back will be included in material your child brings home. We will have no school Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day. PTO will meet on Tuesday (1/17) at 3:00 and of course, we invite you all to come. The end of quarter is on 1/27. A special “thank you” to all of our volunteers, to all parents and guardians working with your students at home, and to our community for all the help you give to our school. We appreciate you! PRIEST RIVER JUNIOR HIGH PRJH basketball season has started. The teams are busy practicing. On January 17, our first basketball game will be the 8th grade “A” girls and boys vs. Sandpoint at home. This starts at 3:30PM. The 7th grade “A” girls and boys go to Sandpoint to play at 4:00PM. On January 19, our 7th grade “A” girls and boys will play Bonners Ferry at home at 3:30PM. Our 8th grade “A” girls and boys will play at Bonners Ferry at 4:30PM. Go Warriors! On January 12, there will be a Priest River Community Blood Drive at the Priest River Junior High circle drive from 12-6. PRIEST RIVER LAMANNA HIGH SCHOOL BATTLE OF THE BUCK – JAN 14TH at Priest River Lamanna High School. Tickets are on sale for $5. Battle of The Buck t-shirts on sale for $10. Driver’s Ed sign up for Marty Landry’s Driving School is in office. Students must be 14 ½ years of age by February 1st. All Juniors must take the ACT in their junior year as a graduation requirement. You must register for the February 11th ACT by January 13th. The February ACT is free and will be given here. If you register for a later test you will have to go to Sandpoint or Cd’A.
